Wind Rose Cellars 2013 Dolcetto, Columbia Valley, $19
By Great Northwest Wine on May 20, 2015
Olympic Peninsula winemaker David Volmut focuses on Italian varieties, and he’s built this Dolcetto from Lonesome Springs Ranch to be enjoyed with food and ready to drink. There’s no oak involved and it was bottled unfiltered, which accounts for very fruit-forward profile of Damson plum, plump blueberry and fresh-picked cherries. The structure combines front tannins and a broad sweep of acidity for a finish of Montmorency cherry and pomegranate. Suggested pairing ideas include beef, lasagna and barbecue fare.
