Vidon Vineyard 2010 Barrel Select Pinot Noir, Chehalem Mountains, $80
By Great Northwest Wine on June 21, 2015
North Dakota native Don Hagee picked the fruit for this four-barrel lot on Oct. 8, and it’s presented with a rustic approach as aromas begin with black cherry, blueberry and elderberry, backed by forest floor, dried oregano and dark toast. The tones of that purple fruit carry onto the palate with richness, supported by moderate tannins, pomegranate acidity and blueberries in the finish. Suggested pairings include Veal Saltimbocca, grilled lamb chops on a bed of lavender, steelhead poached in the wine with herbes de Provence crust and grilled halibut with a blueberry glaze.
