Waterbrook winemaker John Freeman also takes the lead on this upper-tier brand in Walla Walla for Precept Wine CEO Andrew Browne, and the grape sources features the estate Canyon Vineyard Ranch near Prosser and the young Walla Walla Valley planting of Summit View Vineyard. The 26-month program of 40% new French casks make this an oak-driven and robust expression of Malbec as aromas of dark chocolate and toast pick up hints of dried elderberry, dark plum and wet asphalt. The drink’s theme focuses on dusty black currant and Montmorency cherry flavors, backed by chewy tannins and lime peel in the finish.
