The Bunnells name this multi-vineyard Syrah for their son Alex, and it’s regularly featured at the family’s Wine o’Clock Wine Bar and Bistro in Prosser. Aromas of dusty plum and plump black cherry are joined by dark chocolate, fresh mint, baking spices and cedar. There’s a rush of cherries and boysenberry on the palate, making for a delicious combination of juicy tannins and penetrating acidity, capped by a spoonful of huckleberry jam. We later judged this wine at the 2016 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and awarded it a gold medal, where it also offered aromas of chocolate chip cookie dough and a sandy tannin structure.
