Kramer Vineyards 2013 Celebrate Sparkling Pinot Gris, Yamhill-Carlton, $22
By Great Northwest Wine on July 21, 2015
Kim Kramer creates a trio of delicious sparkling wines, and her bubbles from Pinot Gris represent the small of the three lots. Vines with an age of more than 25 years were harvested 19 Brix, and the juice was left just a touch off-dry at 0.6% residual sugar. Aromas bring hints of Bosc pear, honeydew melon, baked Gala apple and dried pineapple, leading to fun and frothy mousse created under the Charmat method. That brings fresh-baked bread, tree-ripened pear, Ambrosia Salad and caramelized sugar. Juicy acidity makes for a clean finish.
