Fujishin Family Cellars 2012 Petite Sirah, Snake River Valley, $23
By Great Northwest Wine on July 26, 2015
One might not think of Idaho’s Snake River Valley as a sweet spot for Petite Sirah, but Rhône varieties can thrive in this climate, and Martin Fujishin continues his string of successes with P.S. from Polo Cove Vineyard — a site planted above 2,600 elevation near the Sunnyslope Wine District. It’s a soft yet firm drink of blackberry, President plum and cordial cherries, backed by light toast, black pepper and sage. Suggested pairings include lamb shanks, prime rib or hearty stews.
