Lake Chelan winemaker Judy Phelps charts a course for a cool-climate Chardonnay with this lot from nearby Chelan Ridge Vineyard, which she took Oct. 9. She shows a deft hand with oak, using primarily neutral French barrels. Aromas of Meyer lemon, gooseberry and grapefruit include a kiss of butterscotch and caramel. The drink is succulent with Bosc pear and nectarine, backed by Golden Delicious apple and more yellow grapefruit juice. She suggests serving this with Emeril’s Seafood Mac and Cheese recipe.
