Elk Cove Vineyards 2013 Mount Richmond Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, $75
By Great Northwest Wine on August 7, 2015
Mount Richmond, at 105 acres near the town of Yamhill, Ore., ranks as the Campbell family’s largest vineyard, and its elevation range of 300-500 feet also is one of Elk Cove’s lower and warmer sites. Despite the troublesome vintage, second-generation winemaker Adam Campbell shows remarkable consistency with the Mount Richmond Pinot Noir, offering tones of sweetened pie cherry, red plums and smoked cherry tomato with rich tannins, pomegranate acidity and a touch of dustiness.
