Koenig Vineyards 2014 Estate Vineyard Viognier, Snake River Valley, $16
Sunnyslope Wine District winemaker/grower Greg Koenig recently released this debut bottling of Viognier from his estate vineyard, which marks the first time that he’s kept his Viognier block separate from his lot off nearby Williamson Vineyard. The aromatics are incredibly citrusy with hints of lemon lime, peach candy, light toast and orange blossom. On the palate, it’s a high-acid Viognier filled with flavors of Red Haven peach and lime, backed by a finish of river rock and lemon. This wine is limited to the Koenig tasting room and wine club, and it’s virtually unheard of to see a Viognier made in the Pacific Northwest at this price.
