14 Hands Winery 2013 Chardonnay, Washington, $12
By Great Northwest Wine on October 19, 2015
Best Buy! One of the Pacific Northwest’s largest and most affordable offerings of Chardonnay also ranks as one of the region’s most approachable. The nose offers fresh-cut Gala apple, honeysuckle, lemon chiffon, jicama and dusty minerality. Inside, its akin to a delicious bite of a fresh caramel apple, backed by white peach and light butter notes — a sign of the 20 percent primarily neutral barrel fermentation. The rather tart finish of a lemon bar adds refreshing juiciness and creates thoughts of grilled halibut with mango salsa. Suggested pairings also include roasted chicken, Lemon Pepper Salmon, Seafood Alfredo or Caesar Salad.
