Armstrong Family Winery 2014 Riesling, Columbia Valley, $18
By Great Northwest Wine on October 28, 2015
Woodinville boutique winemaker Tim Armstrong reaches into Dineen Vineyards — one of the higher elevation sites in the Yakima Valley — for serious Riesling that sees some time in neutral French oak barrels. It offers aromas of candied ginger, pumpkin pie spice, cookie dough, apple blossom and gooseberry. On the attack, it comes with a brisk entry of Granny Smith apple and lime juice that’s tangy, dry and juicy from start to the finish of apple skin bite. The Armstrongs enjoy their Riesling with sushi, fish tacos, scallops and oysters.
