By Great Northwest Wine on December 11, 2015
Charlie “Wine Boss” Hoppes collaborates with this new winery in Columbia River resort community of Orondo, Wash., for a Meritage-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (17%), Cabernet Franc (17%) and Petit Verdot from Vinagium’s Scooteney Flats and Red Heaven vineyards. The 22 months in barrel makes for fragrant oak notes of toast and licorice mixed among black cherry, raspberry, dark blueberry and cherry pipe tobacco. The structure is rich, dark and plush, dominated by cherry and blueberry. It’s backed by fine-grained frontal tannins and chocolate-covered pomegranate, making for a firm and juicy finish.
