Township 7 Vineyards & Winery 2014 Naramata Estate Vineyard Pinot Gris, Okanagan Valley, $17
By Great Northwest Wine on December 18, 2015
The arrival of winemaker Mary McDermott from Ontario has prompted the Naramata Bench property to fully embrace Pinot Gris, more than doubling production and doing so without adding Gewürztraminer, which had been the practice. The new approach began with an Oct. 9 pick at 21 Brix, making for a brisk yet still floral appeal. Aromas offer Golden Delciious apple, Bosc pear, lemongrass and jasmine, while the flavors feature Asian pear, Granny Smith apple, a bite of nectarine and a lingering finish of lemon. Suggested pairings range from halibut with lemon, poached salmon, tangy barbecue chicken or even mac and cheese.
Rating: Excellent
