Airfield Estates 2013 Runway Cabernet Sauvignon, Yakima Valley, $18
By Great Northwest Wine on January 6, 2016
The term “runway” is a tribute to the Miller’s multi-generation farm with a history that includes years spent as a Yakima Valley airbase and defense installation for the Manhattan Project during World War II. Marcus Miller continues to create this in an easy-drinking, lighter-styled Cab that opens with alluring aromas of dark strawberry, blackberry and dark cherry with vanilla, tobacco and cedar notes. It’s approachable structure opens with more vanilla and cherry, backed by black currant and blackberry and finished with chocolate, late tannins and pleasing tangy acidity.
