Fujishin Family Cellars 2013 Mourvèdre, Snake River Valley, $25
Idaho native Martin Fujishin offers another delicious example of the promise of Rhône varieties in the Snake River Valley with his latest Mourvèdre from nearby Williamson Vineyard, one of the state’s top sites. His use of 30% new oak yields pretty aromas of dusty blueberry and dark plum backed by cola and dark chocolate. There’s no disappointment on the plush palate, which also picks up huckleberry and pomegranate. Vanilla cream and lingering acidity make for an elegant finish. These wines are available in limited distribution throughout the Snake River Valley, via the FFC site or at The Old Shed tasting room – formerly the packing shed for the Robison Fruit Ranch – along Sunnyslope Road in the Sunnyslope Wine District.
