Elk Cove Vineyards 2013 La Bohème Pinot Noir, Yamhill-Carlton, $75
By Great Northwest Wine on February 4, 2016
Second-generation winemaker Adam Campbell continues his family’s storied tradition with Pinot Noir in this vineyard designate, a Pommard planting established in 1985. The program of 10 months in 50% new French oak helps create fruity aromas of Bing cherry and blueberry with accents of vanilla and molasses. There’s lots of richness to the palate in generous flavors of plum and black cherry, framed by slaty tannins with pomegranate acidity. Sweet oak spice and blueberry adds to the pleasing length. It is one of eight elegant expressions of Pinot Noir produced by the Campbell family.
