Kriselle Cellars 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Rogue Valley, $34
Civil engineer Scott Steingraber devoted a career to work on projects such as the Tacoma (Wash.) Narrows Bridge expansion. Now, he and his wife are invested in Southern Oregon’s wine industry, both as growers and 4,000-case winemakers in the Medford suburb of White City. Their work with Cabernet Sauvignon from their 25-acre site shows aromas of dense plum, black currant, dusty black cherry and toasted marshmallow. It’s presented as a lighter style of Cab with pleasing Bing cherry, blueberry and chocolate flavors. Rich and round tannins are joined by juiciness, making for good length with a finish of black olive and cassis. Enjoy with Savory Steak Salad & Hazelnut Crusted Lamb Chops with Chantrelle Risotto Crespi.
