Dana Roberts shines with red grape varieties from Bordeaux and Rhône grown in the Columbia Valley, and he also sparkles with non-grape wines, including those from “The Cranberry Coast” – bogs in his home county of Grays Harbor. This latest version begins with a fun and frothy appearance and gorgeous nose of light cranberry, dried strawberry and blood orange. Inside, it is flawless with bright, crisp and beautiful cranberry fruit that’s capped by raspberry in the finish. Lingering tartness without bitterness nicely balances the residual sugar of 12%, and the tremendous presentation of mousse adds to its breadth. This earned best of class at the 2016 Capital Food and Wine Festival Wine Competition. At their garden resort’s on-premise restaurant, they suggest pairing this with Chicken Cordon Gold, and sales of this bottling benefit the Driftwood Theater in Aberdeen.
