Maison De Padgett Winery NV The Smoking Gun Coffee Port-style, Rattlesnake Hills, $20
By Great Northwest Wine on March 30, 2016
David and Andrew Padgett loaded another delicious round in the chamber with this latest edition of their coffee-flavored Port-style wine from the Padgett family’s vastly underrated fortified program in the Yakima Valley’s Rattlesnake Hills. The vapor trail of hazelnut coffee, vanilla cream and flan comes to life in a dangerous match on the palate. Its flavors are plush and lush – perfect for a springtime bonfire, drizzling over vanilla ice cream or adding a bit of octane to that weekend cup of coffee. This earned a gold medal at the 2016 Capital Food and Wine Festival Wine Competition, a perennial award for this unique bottling.
