Bunnell Family Cellar 2010 Lia, Columbia Valley, $36
By Great Northwest Wine on April 22, 2016
Ron Bunnell has something of a Midas touch with Rhône grapes and Bunnell Family Winery’s 2010 Rhône blend, titled “Lia,” shines by using 29% each of Mouvedre and Syrah, augmented by 14% each of Grenache, Cinsault and Counoise from the Columbia Valley. Spice, cured meat, blackberries and blueberries waft from the glass, and in the mouth, plums and black currants join the fruit parade. In closing, chocolate, black licorice and grippy tannins emerge. This earned a gold medal at the 2016 Cascadia Wine Competition.
