Longtime fans of Dean Neff will remember that his rèsumè includes working for Oregon wine industry luminaries such as Isabelle Dutarte and Tony Soter. There were even a few barrels of Dundee Hills Pinot Noir bottled under the Nonni and Zing label, a template for their Nefarious brand. The Neffs worked with the Bojanower family in the Chehalem Mountains for this remarkable Pinot Noir that opens up with ripe aromas of wild strawberry, black cherry and blackberry candy, backed by vanilla bean and suave spices. Its structure is bold, leading with flavors of black currant, Bing cherry and violet. There’s good firmness of bittersweet chocolate tannins and pomegranate acidity on the palate, transitioning to additional enjoyable oak spice amid the long finish of cocoa powder.
