This grower/winemaker in Oregon’s emerging wine region referred to as the Cascade Foothills grows a small amount of Pinot Noir on the 11 acres of vineyard, and Pete Buffington shows remarkable consistency. Named after his first-born grandson, enticing aromas of strawberry candy and black cherry pick up elegant tones of new leather, moist earth and violets. The drink is ripe, round and fruit-forward with Bing cherry, raspberry and strawberry-rhubarb compote with a touch of celery leaf, all backed by juicy acidity and moderate tannins.
