Township 7 Vineyards & Winery 2015 Rock Pocket Vineyard Muscat, Okanagan Valley, $18
By Great Northwest Wine on June 24, 2016
This winery on British Columbia’s bucolic Naramata Bench sources its dry and riveting Muscat from Oliver, a warm growing region just a few minutes’ drive from Oroville, Wash. This lot was taken historically early – Aug. 7 – and the harvest at 21 Brix set the table for the residual sugar of 0.2%. Classic aromas of lychee and honeydew melon pick up hints of kiwi and boxwood. Inside, it leads with lemon juice, lime zest and melon, offering considerably more acidity that typically found with what is viewed as the world’s oldest wine grape. Serve with a cheese plate or spicy dishes from Morocco or Thailand.
