StoneRidge Vineyards along Washington’s Royal Slope between the towns of Royal City and Othello is the estate planting of the Davis family, and the latest release of their popular flagship wine is a blend of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The nose opens leads strawberry jam and cherry red licorice as it picks up a pinch of leaf, elderberry and mince meat spice. On the palate, there’s lots of licorice, both red and black, framed by bittersweet chocolate and sandy tannins akin to espresso grounds. It offers a bit of hedonism in the finish, too.
