H/H Estates 2013 Coyote Canyon Vineyard Robert Andrews Reserve Mourvèdre, Horse Heaven Hills, $38
By Great Northwest Wine on June 12, 2017
Rancher-turned-vintner Mike Andrews pays tribute to his father with this Mourvèdre, one of the two dozen varieties that seem to thrive across this 1,100-acre planting in the Horse Heaven Hills south of Prosser, Wash. This spicy red Rhône grape offers sweet aromas of Sugarfina Finnska Red licorice and black currant jelly along chalkboard dust, a descriptor often found in Horse Heaven Hills wines. The drink is filled massive fruit flavors of plum and blackberry. Vanilla spice and cocoa add depth to the finish of akin to biting into a black cherry with its skin tannin and juiciness.
