Spokane attorney/winemaker/jazz guitarist Tim Nodland devotes his top two barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon from venerable Pepper Bridge Vineyard for his aptly named reserve program, which he launched a decade ago. This Cab exhibits maturity, starting with the dark reddish hue, and following through with notes of brownie mix, Bing cherry and cassis. Those plush red fruit tones lead to an elegant finish of toast and bright acidity backed by clove and black licorice. This winter, Nodland moved out of the tasting room he created downtown in the old Chronicle Building. He’s focused his efforts back into his Spokane Valley vinification facility and transitioning to a member-driven wine program.
