Alexana Estate Vineyard and Winery 2016 Revana Vineyard Estate Riesling, Dundee Hills, $32
Considering the winemakers behind this project, the continued success with Riesling in the Dundee Hills at Alexana should not be surprising. Lynn Penner-Ash, whose bottlings of Riesling often go underappreciated, consulted for Dr. Madaiah Revana in the early stages of Alexana. Now in the spotlight is Bryan Weil, who worked in Washington state for Hogue Cellars, one of the region’s largest Riesling producers. He’s crafted a dry and delicious style, opening with aromas of Juicy Fruit gum, Limeade, jasmine and powdered sugar. There’s fruitiness to the flavors from start to finish as lime and jasmine lead to a finish of Pink Lady apple and peach. It’s approachable and fun, but the 0.7% residual keeps it very much in the realm of a dry Riesling.
Rating: Outstanding!
Production: 969 cases
Alcohol: 12.5%
