Aubichon Cellars 2016 Riverside Vineyard Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, $55
One of the Willamette Valley’s most talented Pinot Noir producers is Jim Sanders, who makes wines for several winery owners, but Aubichon Cellars reprsents the brand he shares with grower Tom Moritmer of Le Cadeau Vineyard. Many of their efforts focus along the Chehalem Mountains, but this showcases Riverside Vineyard just outside of the McMinnville American Viticultural Area. It’s a remarkably expressive Pinot Noir that begins with aromas of boysenberry and cherry joined by ginger, Juniper Ridge Douglas Spring Tip tea and fennel. A deft job with tannin management allows for complete enjoyment of fruity flavors akin to pie cherry and raspberry with blueberry and orange zest.
