Walla Walla’s John Freeman created the inaugural bottling of Chardonnay in a California reserve fashion for recording artists Little Big Town’s young label. The collection from Yakima Valley sites Canyon Vineyard Ranch, Oasis and Willard are joined by The Benches in the Horse Heaven Hills, and they spent 17 months in a barrel program featuring 40% new French oak. Tropical and nutty aromas of banana, pineapple and vanilla include butterscotch, and they are matched in rich fashion on the palate. Toasted apple and lemon meringue make for a delicious and balanced finish. This 2015 Chardonnay was featured in Shipment One for the 4 Cellars wine club, and the demand for this brand that’s tied closely to the country band has prompted partnering Precept Wine in Seattle to grow production to 10,000 cases within two years of its launch. Also, this Chardonnay as well as the 4 Cellars Cab now are available at select Total Wine & More stores.
