Willow Crest Estate Winery 2016 Pinot Gris, Yakima Valley, $15
By Great Northwest Wine on August 1, 2018
Best Buy! Starting in 1982, David Minick and his family grew grapes and produced aromatic white wines at his family’s estate vineyard at 1,300 feet elevation near Prosser, Wash. Pinot Gris remained a focus along the way, and the wines always earned a mention among the values in Washington wine. He continues to serve as vineyard director for Precept Wine, and this Gris is symbolic of his Yakima Valley vineyard. Fresh aromas of honeydew melon, cantaloupe and lemongrass lead to flavors of stone fruit and starfruit, capped by white pepper, jasmine and clean acidity.
