Ruby Vineyard and Winery 2015 Laurelwood Blend Pinot Noir, Chehalem Mountains $29
By Great Northwest Wine on March 24, 2019

The inaugural commercial vintage for winery owners Stephen Hendricks and Flora Habbi brought immediate acclaim for their program, including a double gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition for Andrew Kirkland’s blend of Pommard, Dijon clones 115, 777 and the “suitcase” 828 attributed to Archery Summit and its late founder Gary Andrus. Harvest wrapped up for this bottling by Sept. 24. Aromas of cola and black cherry pick up tobacco leaf and roasted coffee. Taking a Burgundian approach on the palate, there’s pleasing dustiness and leather behind cranberry and red currant skins. Enjoy with roasted chicken, rabbit or lightly smoked ham.
