Seven Hills Winery 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, $30

This flagship Cab produced by Walla Walla’s Casey McClellan is crafted in a classic fashion from vineyards throughout the region, a portfolio that takes in historic sites on Red Mountain and the Walla Walla Valley, including the McClellan Estate and Seven Hills vineyards. McCllelan’s final blend represents all six major Bordeaux red varieties and a range of oak that reaches into France, Hungary, Russia and America – with a third of those barrels being news. Elegant aromas of cinnamon bark, dusty black cherry, blackcurrant and blueberry lead to a flavor profile that mirrors it all. The structure is rich yet firm, showing itself worthy of cellaring, all while offered at a price that’s easy to invest in.
