Merry Cellars 2017 Stillwater Creek Vineyard Rosé, Columbia Valley, $24
By Great Northwest Wine on June 1, 2019

Palouse winemaker Patrick Merry targets Stillwater Creek Vineyard in the Frenchman Hills near Royal City, Wash., for much of his program, and his scintillating rosé showcases his award-winning work with Rhône varieties. He takes the saignée method, bleeding off Syrah (50%) and Mourvèdre harvested Sept. 23 at 22 Brix and 24 Brix, respectively. Blood orange and melon aromas come with a sense of dustiness. Enjoyable flavors of crushed Rainier cherry and raspberry are capped by a delicious burst of tangerine. Suggested pairings include semi-soft cheeses, summertime salads, lean cuts of meat or an antipasto platter.
