Philip and Sheryl Jones grown a variety of cool-climate varieties in their vineyard along Underwood Mountain, a 28-acre site that reaches 1,850 feet elevation across the Columbia River from Hood River, Ore. In this case, however, they pulled in Riesling from the Rawn brothers’s Two Mountain Vineyard in the Rattlesnake Hills of Washington’s Yakima Valley. Fun and nicely floral aromas of lime soda and mint are joined by some minerality, which lead to a well-balanced drink of lemon/lime and white peach. A touch of tannin in the finish tightens things up as the listed residual sugar of 2% is perceived as more dry than sweet.
