Stoller Family Estate 2018 Chardonnay, Dundee Hills, $28
By Great Northwest Wine on January 19, 2020

Bill Stoller can boast of the largest estate planting of Chardonnay, and he’s done it on Dundee Hills property that he grew up on. The material that Melissa Burr and her team work with include Dijon 76, 95, 96 and the extra-ripe clone 548, which arrived in California in 1997. All four factor into this unoaked example that’s beautifully lemony crisp and offers complexity. Inviting aromas of Sprite, powdered sugar and fresh-cut celery lead to delicious flavors of papaya, pineapple and Granny Smith apple with a finish of dried apricots. Its Chablis-like finish with lingering acidity makes it ideal for any dish meant for a white wine.
