John Freeman works with Sagemoor’s historic Bacchus Vineyard for this nicely and lightly oaked expression of America’s favorite wine grape. The 11 months in a barrel program of 42% new French oak helps account for notes of lemon meringue, butterscotch and white peach. The brisk structure, backed by Asian pear with cinnamon and apricot, finishes with minerality, starfruit and brightness. Suggested pairings include baked or roasted fare in a cream sauce.
