Yamhill Valley Vineyards 2019 Estate Rosé of Pinot Noir, McMinnville, $18

The Burger family and its 150 acres just outside of McMinnville, Ore., continue to build on a reputation as home to one of the Northwest’s top rosé programs behind the winemaking of Ariel Eberle. This has followed in the footsteps of her 2017 vintage that reached the sweepstakes of the 2018 Cascadia International Wine Competition, starting with a fun color of hot pink that brings aromas of watermelon and strawberry hard candy joined by a touch of fresh herbs. On the palate, her blend of hand-harvesting of Pommard and Dijon 115 clone fruit is penetrating and compelling with boysenberry on the entry followed by a nibble of Bing cherry skin and a blackcurrant finish.
