Mosquito Fleet Winery 2019 SS Baily Gatzert Sauvignon Blanc, Rattlesnake Hills, $25
By Great Northwest Wine on June 13, 2021
Kitsap Peninsula chiropractor Brian Petersen continues to show off his versatility as a winemaker with this mouthwatering example of a white Bordeaux from the cooler portion of the Yakima Valley. His blend of Sauvignon Blanc (80%) and Sèmillon (20%) pays tribute to the renowned sternwheeler that was named for the eighth mayor of Seattle and brings aromas of fruit cocktail, gooseberry, lime soda and anise. On the bone-dry palate, there’s more fruit cocktail than gooseberry followed by a long trail of lime juice that the Petersens enjoy with scallops, oysters and soft cheeses.
