Famed Burgundy house Maison Louis Jadot purchased Biodynamically farmed Résonance Vineyard in 2013, and fruit from the brand’s namesake site in Yamhill-Carlton comes together with their other estate vineyard — Découverte in the Dundee Hills — for their Oregon brand’s flagship bottling. Jadot’s longtime winemaker, Jacques Lardière, collaborates with Dijon graduate Guillaume Large on this delivery of dark and dusty purple fruit. In the nose, the 15 months in 20% new French oak barrels is reflected in the vanilla bourbon note that rests behind that fruit, which is joined by cocoa powder and dried cherry. The entry to the palate is quite supple followed by a rush of juicy elderberry and blueberry. Its flash of pomegranate in the finish adds to its piquant profile.
