Northwest Cellars 2016 Intrigue Red Wine, Columbia Valley, $32

By on September 19, 2021

Woodinville winemaker Robert Delf has shifted the focus his proprietary blend from strictly Bordeaux to now involving Syrah (30%) alongside Malbec (30%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Petit Verdot (10%). Five years beyond the vintage, this red has really come into its own and strutting down the runway. An alluring nose of blackberry jam, blueberry, cinnamon and vanilla bean leads into a rewarding drink of black cherry, huckleberry and more blackberry with sandy tannins that bring enough structure to cling to that combination of dark purple fruit through the finish.
