Harvest at Argyle during this vintage began Sept. 1 with Chardonnay from Lone Star Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills. Fruit from historic Knudsen Vineyard in the Dundee Hills came onto Nate Klostermann’s crush pad later on as he deliciously navigated the wildfires to produce another friendly example of Oregon Chardonnay. This was 18 months in the making, starting with 12 months in French oak — 15% of those barrels being new – and then six months in stainless steel prior to bottling. Alluring aromas of Ambrosia salad and tutti frutti pick up a whiff of quinine amid lime peel. The entry is brisk from the flavors of lemon Quench Gum, Granny Smith apple, lime and light toast. Its scintillating finish screams for briny oysters on the half shell.
