Pamela Frye and her longtime winemaker — Aaron Lieberman — continue their string of success, a run includes a pair of Double Platinums at Great Northwest Wine’s 2022 Platinum Awards and best of show at last year’s McMinnville Wine Classic. This nicely priced and widely available Pinot Noir is the flagship bottling by this Cottage Grove producer, and its vineyard sourcing includes Chalice Estate and also represents four North Willamette Valley appellations with Ten Peaks, young Barking Dog in the Chehalem Mountains and two North Willamette Valley sites managed by veteran grower John Gilpin — Hidden Rocks and Robinson. The fruit-forward nose of blueberry, plum and cherry includes a sliced of cherry tomato, an array that’s matched on the palate in approachable fashion with the focus on bright Rainier cherry, midpalate earthiness and a nice finish reminiscent of sprinkle of muscavado sugar and allspice atop a halved President plum.
