Best Buy! This second-year, value-driven brand buys grapes from the plantings at eastern edge of Washington’s Horse Heaven Hills such as storied Wallula Vineyard, and that approach to the production allows Beckstone to reference the resulting wine as “100% wind power offset.” That fruit didn’t have far to travel either to reach Tim Henly at Pacific Rim Winemakers in Richland. Merlot (9%) and Malbec (8%) are added to build structure and blue fruit notes throughout. Inviting notes of mocha, dried blueberry, Bing cherry, lavender and lime oil presented with approachable tannins that met with salted caramel and Marionberry juice, giving this a cool-climate approach.
