Scott O’Brien Kelley is one half of this decade-old project with fellow winemaker Dyson Paul DeMara at the historic Hansen Chevrolet Building in downtown Roseburg, Ore., and Kelley is given credit for this expression of Pinot Noir grown near their Umpqua Valley headquarters that provides a delicious level of pop. Two sites near the northern edge of the American Viticultural come together with Susan’s Vineyard in Yoncalla and Bradley Vineyards to the west in Elkton for this blend of five clones that Pommard leads by a nose (26%). Enticing fruit-forward aromas of Bing cherry and blackberry are joined by cocoa powder and lavender. Those ripe and juicy purple fruits keep pushing from start to the tangy and lengthy finish of blueberry/pomegranate.
