Best Buy! There’s flexibility in using Columbia Valley as the American Viticultural Area, but Dusted Valley seems to be burying the lede by not using Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley on the label because they source their Pinot Gris from one of the top sites for whites in Washington – the Jones family’s Two Gun Vineyard. And rather than truck the grapes all the way down to Walla Walla, Dusted Valley collaborates with winemaker Becca De Kleine and Four Feathers Wine Services in Prosser. They’ve created a Pinot Gris with broad appeal and applications, opening with aromas of starfruit and gooseberry and fanciful secondary notes of cotton candy, jasmine and fresh mint. On the palate, the focus is on tree fruit as Golden Delicious apple, white peach and carambola get carried out by Key lime juice. The Boomtown tier can be found on restaurant wine lists, and suggested pairings include creamy pastas, smoked foods and award-winning chef Janis Frey’s recipe for Shrimp Satay.
