Best Buy! Stephanie Pao made the decision to harvest on Oct. 9 the Dijon clone grapes off the Gerber family’s Maple Ranch Vineyard, which Foris views as the best-performing vineyard of their three plantings near Cave Junction, Ore. Gerber named this site in tribute to his mother and stepfather — Bob and Marge Maple, and he’s devoted 32 of its 46 acres to 12 clones of Pinot Noir. The quality of fruit and Pao’s experience from working at Willamette Valley producers Bethel Heights and Lemelson show with this rosé that could be offered at twice the price as Gerber established. The color of Provence brings aromas of white strawberry, nectarine, pink peppercorns and rose petals. It’s deliciously bright on the entry, moving from pink strawberry to orange Creamsicle and a lively blood orange finish.
