Best Buy! Andrew Wilson’s winemaking team includes Maurine Johnson, and because she spearheads the larger programs at Goose Ridge it’s no surprise that this pinkish salmon rosé drinks so nicely, and at such a price point. The influence of Rhône varieties is obvious — Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache — and the two months of lees aging prior to bottling creates a sense of style. Hints of lemon meringue pie, orange sherbet and sliced cherries in the nose leads to flavors of crushed strawberries, tutti frutti ice cream and starfruit — a legacy of the Pinot Gris also in play. The finish of Hermiston watermelon is a lengthy one, and the texture of this rosé is stunning. Earlier this year, it merited a gold medal at the prestigious TEXSOM International near Dallas.
