Best Buy! James Nederend of Koenig Vineyards also crafts the wines for the Williamson family, who earned a double gold medal at the 2023 Great Northwest Invitational in early October for the Grüner they grow, so it makes sense that judges would think so highly of the Grüner under his own label. The Williamsons picked it Oct. 7 at nearly 23 Brix, and it’s a classic example of what Idaho can do with this Austrian grape. Complex aromas of watermelon heart, pea blossoms and an oceanside breeze lead to flavors of apricot and lemongrass, which are joined by edible orchid petals and fresh morels. Look for this remarkable example at the SCORIA tasting room in downtown Boise or at their tasting room near Lake Lowell. Qualifying award: Cascadia International (double gold)

Greetings, Jean.
Thank you for the compliment and the point of interest. The Nederends are now onto their bottling from the 2023 vintage, and the listed price of that wine is $22 – still a remarkable price for a Gruner.

I have not evaluated the 2023, but I hope to later this spring!
Cheers,
