Elizabeth Keyser’s time in the Finger Lakes region of New York and the Willamette Valley is on display with this aromatic, stylish and wide-ranging blend from Dufenhorst plantings at Clos CheValle above Lake Chelan and Double D in the Rocky Reach AVA — both part of the state’s young Sustainable WA program. A product of her first commercial vintage for Rocky Pond, this is primarily Pinot Gris (64%) and Riesling (19%) with smaller lots of Marsanne, Sémillon and Viognier — each fermented separately and blended for deliciousness. Attractive notes of starfruit, nectarine and Republic of Tea’s Orange Blossom White come together on a palate reminiscent of Pinot Gris from the Willamette Valley. It’s theme of white-fleshed orchard fruit includes jasmine, lime peel and a pleasing twist of orange zest in the finish. Pairings suggested by culinary director Doug Setniker include Ahi Tuna Cake, Mango Salsa or a Berry Brie Salad with White Balsamic Vinaigrette.
