Alexandria Nicole Cellars 2013 Destiny Ridge Vineyard Jet Black Syrah, Horse Heaven Hills, $25
By Great Northwest Wine on March 24, 2015
As his vineyard matures, grower/winemaker Jarrod Boyle is reaping more acclaim for his wines, and this estate Syrah is the latest example. The gorgeous nose is reminiscent of Marionberry pie, cherry jam, cola, caramel, horehound and baking spices. On the attack, the flavors hint at Hostess Blackberry Pie, montmorency cherry and vanilla. The structure leads with acidity as the tannins build slowly in the finish of vanilla and anise. It’s a yummy wine filled with finesse, and it merited best of class at the 2015 Seattle Wine and Food Experience Wine Awards.
